Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan has met with a delegation from the native administration in East Darfur.

The delegation was chaired by Rizagat Tribe General Chief Mahmoud Musa Madibo.

The vice president lauded the role of native administrations in bringing together the people and resolving issues facing the local community.

He also thanked the delegation for supporting peace deals in West Darfur.

In a press statement, Madibo underscored that the visit was aimed at supporting the vice president’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in Sudan – and, particularly, his efforts to strengthen the social fabric and facilitate tribal reconciliation in West Darfur State.

Madibo also thanked the people of Geneina for their warm welcome.

“Unfortunately, we received the sad news of the death of 18 Sudanese martyrs on the border with Chad,” he said. “We visited their families and offered our condolences. We found them patient and understanding of the situation and full of hope that such incidents will not reoccur.”
