The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has managed to release 25 hostages of various nationalities, including women who were trafficked by organized criminal groups in Kassala State.
The RSF released the hostages near Khasham Girba after a fierce chase between the RSF and criminal groups.
Earlier, the RSF received a report that 25 hostages were being held near the city, including five women.
The RSF Intelligence Division Halfa Office immediately proceeded to the area, where six armed human traffickers were found to be holding the hostages.
The criminals began firing at the RSF. An exchange ensued, after which they fled the area.
During the exchange, one of the hostages jumped in fear into the Atbara River. However, the RSF managed to rescue her.
The hostages were then evacuated to Halfa to assist with the investigation and establish their identities. The hostages told the RSF that they had been detained for days without food or water.
RSF Eastern Second Commander, Colonel Yousif Ibrahim Al-Balal said the RSF are deployed to secure the borders in eastern Sudan to prevent criminals threats in the country.
He added that, “Within just one month, we managed to recover 10 stolen vehicles and seize a large quantity of marijuana and other narcotics.”
Al-Balal underscored that the RSF will continue its work to protect the people of Sudan and put an end to the trafficking of people, arms, and narcotics in the country.
