Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has ordered an increase in port working hours in Sudan to strengthen the flow of goods.
He also declared that Saturday should be a normal working day at Sudan's main port.
Dagalo made the announcement during a meeting chaired by the head of the Red Sea State Chamber of Commerce. The Red Sea governor, officials and economic experts attended.
In a press statement, Salih Salah Salih, a representative of the chamber, said the meeting addressed an assortment issues related to challenges facing import and export at ports.
Salih added that various obstacles were discussed and a broad array of solutions proposed at the meeting. He also underscored the government’s readiness to tackle the difficulties facing ports to improve Sudan's economy.
Salih also noted that Dagalo stressed the importance of providing port workers with continuous training and the proper employment conditions.
