Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo chaired a meeting of the Red Sea State General Secretariat’s Security and Defense Committee in Port Sudan today.
Dagalo was briefed by Red Sea Governor Ali Abd Allah Adroub, who chairs the committee, on the political and security situation in the state, as well as efforts to maintain peace and stability for the local population.
In a press statement, Adroub said myriad issues were addressed at the meeting, including the water problem in Port Sudan. He underscored the need to rehabilitate and maintain local reservoirs to contribute to resolving the water shortage in the state.
Adroub added that Dagalo praised the committee’s efforts to maintain stability and peace.
Meanwhile, the vice president discussed the various challenges facing the port, particularly as far as the shipping and unloading process are concerned. He stressed the importance of coordinating with related bodies to overcome difficulties in import and export operations, as well as to provide the port’s employees with continued training.
The governor noted that Dagalo affirmed that the port is not currently undergoing the process of privatization by a local or an international company. He added that the meeting also covered the need to build new ports in addition to the ports of Oseif and Haydoub.
“Dagalo promised to support the efforts of the security forces to combat smuggling and narcotics that harm the country,” Adroub said.
The governor praised all Sudan’s armed forces, including the army, Rapid Support Forces and intelligence, stating that they are integrated and inclusive and represent all of Sudan.
