First Vice President (FVP)of the Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has called for setting an integrated programme and joint vision to develop the animal wealth sector to be participated by the producers and exporters.
He added, while addressing the livestock traders at Al-Mowailih market in Omdurman, that it is time to address the challenges of livestock exportation including the shortages of veterinary services and the lack of training to the producers, stressing on the importance of setting studies to be participated experts from Sudan and abroad to design the scientific resolution to cope with the international standards.
He called on the Ministry of Animal Wealth to improve the environment of the markets through providing it with the essential services, besides studying the reasons for the rejecting some livestock shipments by importers.
For his part, Minister of Animal Resources admitted the existence of negligence in this sector, revealing the rejection of 42 shipments of livestock export without forming any investigation committee to review the causes, pointing out the livestock export was worth US$259 million in the recent few months.
On their part the traders of livestock in Al-Mowailih complained the lack of services and security besides the lack of veterinary services , calling on the FVP to intervene to resolve their problems and providing support to improve the programme of improving the animal wealth sector.
