1st Vice President of the Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohammed Hsmdan Daglo met with the Head of the African Union (AU) Commission Musa Faki at the head office of the AU in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of his visit t Ethiopian.
Daglo briefed FAki on the developments in Sudan and discussed with him the isses of peace in Sudan and South Sudan. They discussed boosting the role of UNISFA peacekeeping troops in Abyei in protecting the civilians in t area.
For his part hed of the AU Commission expressed the readiness of the AU to provide any support to push forward the peace process in Sudan, adding that stability of the area is the goal of the AU.
Meanwhile, Daglo met with the Sudanese embassy staff and the Sudanese community in Addis Ababa where he was acquainted with the situations of the Sudanese community and the stranded citizens in Ethiopia especially after COVID-19 pandemic. He promised to discuss the issue of the health emergency committee on opening the borders to allow the stranded citizens retrn to Sudan besides resolving the issue of visas.
Daglo conveyed the greetings of the President of the Sovereign Council, Abdul Fatah Al-Burhan and Prime Minister dr. Abdallah Hamdok.
He was briefed by the Charge d’Affaires of the Sudanese embassy in Ethiopia, Mukhtar Bilal on the situations of the stranded Sudanese and prisoners in Ethiopia besides the problems of remittances, affirming that there are no COVID-19 infections amng the some 300 stranded Sudanese in Ethiopia.
Daglo lauded the great role of the Sudanese embassy in Addis Ababa in developing the relations between the two countries, affirming that it is one of the most important Sudanese diplomatic missions for its pivotal tole in building relations with Ethiopia and the regional and international organizations in Addis Ababa especially the African Union.
Hepledged to resove all the problems facing the embassy in Addis Ababa.
