MEDIA STATEMENT

The Rapid Support Forces welcomes the final resolution of the consultative meeting of political and civil leaders from the Darfur region, which was held in Lome, Togo, on July 23-24.

We affirm our deepest commitment to the requirements outlined in the resolution, as well as our respective duties toward establishing peace, security and stability in the country, and, particularly, in Darfur.

We also declare our sincere acceptance of and commitment to implement all the requirements related to West Darfur State, which recently witnessed tragic events, and to work to calm the situation and support stability and security throughout all of Darfur.

We thank the Togolese government for hosting the conference and for its sincere efforts to help establish peace in our country. Sudan garners great strength from its African brethren and their continuing support in helping us to pass through these difficult times.
