MEDIA STATEMENT
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) attempted to attack Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions in the areas of Hatab and Halfaya Bridge in the city of Bahri today, while disconnecting the communications network.
Our courageous soldiers responded aggressively to the attacks and defeated the combatants. The RSF also successfully seized 130 fully equipped vehicles — 90 from Hatab and the rest from Halfaya — and captured military equipment. Dozens of SAF personnel were apprehended, including a brigadier general. The commander of the attacking force, another high-ranking officer, and other SAF personnel were killed.
The SAF and its extremist backers linked to the former regime hoped that cutting off the communications network during their attack would ensure victory for their forces. Unfortunately, they failed to recognize that our valiant soldiers were positioned throughout the city.
Today's events should serve as a stark lesson to the leaders of the SAF and the former regime. They must understand that our forces are indomitable, and the collapse of their own ranks is inevitable. It is now imperative for the honorable members of the SAF to rectify the situation and swiftly support the people's choice for freedom and democracy.
