The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander in West Darfur convened a meeting yesterday with local civil administrations in the state's capital city.
RSF Major General Abdel Rahman Jumaa, the RSF commander in the state of West Darfur, met with a delegation representing local civil administrations in El Geneina. The meeting addressed the current security and humanitarian situation in the state.
Major General Jumaa welcomed the delegation and made a comprehensive briefing on the situation in West Darfur, emphasizing that the security situation is stable.
He urged the local civil administrations to effectively fulfill their duties in promoting peace, fostering tolerance, encouraging coexistence among the population, and renouncing any rhetoric of violence, tribalism, or regionalism.
Major General Jumaa also stressed the imperative of addressing hate speech and racism, while apprehending those responsible for the violent incidents that occurred within the state.
These unfortunate events resulted in the loss of numerous innocent lives and the displacement of a significant number of West Darfur residents.
In response, the leaders of the local civil administrations reiterated that the current state of affairs in the region is devoid of any troubling manifestations. They further emphasized that residents have already begun to return to their homes in significant numbers. Moreover, they expressed the critical need to establish a committee responsible for delivering essential services and overseeing the operation of vital institutions. Such a committee would play a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of the people and ensuring security and stability throughout all regions of the state.
