MEDIA STATEMENT

In a demonstration of assertiveness, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) courageously neutralized a hostile MiG warplane belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) during a dramatic confrontation on Thursday morning.

In a shocking display of disregard for human life, the SAF, under the instruction of  extremist elements linked to the former regime of dictator Omar al-Bashir, ruthlessly targeted residential areas in Omdurman and East Nile earlier today. This reprehensible act of aggression has resulted in the devastating loss of innocent lives, extensive damage to residential infrastructure, and a profound disruption of peace.

Adding to the sorrow, three families in Omdurman's Block 38 tragically lost their lives. A local mosque was completely destroyed, killing and injuring worshippers, and a farm was set ablaze, as homes of innocent residents crumbled under the relentless assault.

Responding swiftly to protect the innocent, the RSF retaliated with resolute resistance, successfully grounding a MiG warplane in the heart of Khartoum.

This atrocious bombardment, carried out indiscriminately in residential areas, has caused the deaths and injuries of hundreds of civilians. It constitutes a clear violation of human rights law, international humanitarian law, and the Geneva Conventions, which aim to ensure the protection of civilians during times of war.
