MEDIA STATEMENT
The Rapid Support Forces welcomes the announcement of a 72-hour ceasefire and humanitarian armistice scheduled to commence at 6AM on Sun., June 18, and conclude at 6AM on Wed., June 21, 2023.
During this designated period, we will honor our commitment to a comprehensive cessation of hostilities across all regions of Sudan, with the primary aim of facilitating the delivery of vital humanitarian assistance to civilians. We will also prioritize the inspection and rehabilitation of essential public infrastructure, including hospitals, water and electricity facilities, to ensure that they are operational, as well as the establishment of safe corridors for local residents.
Furthermore, we affirm our steadfast adherence to the principles outlined in the Jeddah Declaration, as well as our unwavering respect for human rights, international humanitarian law, and the provisions set forth in the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
We commend the joint efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United States to resolve our country's crisis in their role as facilitators. We hope that the opposing forces will honor the humanitarian armistice and refrain from obstructing the humanitarian relief endeavors aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by our people.
