MEDIA STATEMENT
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) firmly denounces the appalling murder and mutilation of two unarmed RSF members by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its extremist backers linked to the former regime of dictator Omar al-Bashir. This heinous act of terrorism blatantly contradicts both divine and international law. It is not only a gross violation of human rights but a war crime of the highest order.
The execution is part of an escalating pattern of extremist behavior exhibited by the SAF and its supporters linked to the al-Bashir regime. This includes indiscriminate bombardment of civilian areas, cold-blooded ethnically and tribally based killings, home invasions, and systematic looting. The extent of their criminality and animosity is increasingly evident.
The RSF urges all responsible national forces and civil society groups to express their condemnation of these cowardly acts.
Additionally, the RSF calls for an independent and transparent investigation into this and other war crimes committed by the SAF and its backers from the al-Bashir regime against civilians and prisoners. Those found guilty must be held accountable before the law.
The barbaric conduct of the SAF and its associates from the al-Bashir regime poses the risk of dire consequences, jeopardizing security, social harmony, and potentially escalating the conflict between the RSF and these forces into a full-fledged civil war.
The RSF pays homage to its fallen members and pledges to persist in its pursuit of justice and peace.
