The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Desert Shield Division, which is deployed along the Triangle Border, has managed to rescue eight people in the desert. It also found the bodies of 13 people who died of thirst.
The individuals were traveling from Libya to Sudan when their vehicle broke down and they were stranded for one month without sufficient food or water.
The persons were immediately taken to the Shafer-Let Military Base where medical support was provided.
The deceased were also buried.
Shafer-Let Military Base Commander, Colonel Othman Ali Abdul-Majid prayed to Almighty God, asking that their souls may rest in paradise. He also prayed for a quick recovery for those individuals who survived the incident in the desert.
Abdul-Majid stressed that the RSF will continue to patrol the area day and night to maintain security and stability for the local population, as well as to fight human, arms, and drugs trafficking.
