Thousands of citizens have gathered at the Ginena City Stadium to honor Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, Rapid Support Forces Commander, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo to recognize his efforts to maintain security and support the social fabric in the region.
While addressing the population, the vice president expressed his appreciation to the honoring committee chaired by Prince Al-Tahir Abdul-Rahman Bahar-Din. He also thanked West Darfur residents for their support in promoting peace and peaceful coexistence.
Dagalo underscored that it is a tremendous honor to oversee the signing of peace deals in the region. He also warned those who seek to spread sedition in Sudan that they will be brought to justice according to the rule of law.
The vice president also called upon the regular forces to carry out their duties to protect the civilian population. He also called on the people to cooperate with the regular forces and renounce criminals.
Dagalo added that freedom and democracy need to be respected.
"We want a disciplined democracy, not chaos," the vice president said.
He also stressed that his stay in West Darfur was aimed at strengthening the social fabric, imposing the authority of the state, and assisting the voluntary return of IDPs to their homes.
Meanwhile, Acting West Darfur Governor Tigani Al-Tahir Karshom lauded the peace deals that were signed recently between disputing tribes in the state, and thanked the vice president for his successful efforts to bring these reconciliations to fruition.
