Transitional Sovereignty Council VP holds meeting to assess situation in West Darfur

Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has held a meeting at Hospitality Palace in Ginena today. 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief of Operational Staff, General Khalid Abdin Al-Shami, Police General Mohammed Ibrahim Awad Allah, Intelligence General Abu-Obeida Mergani, peace movement representatives, and West Darfur Deputy Governor Tigani Karshom.

In a press statement, Awad Allah said the meeting addressed humanitarian and security issues across the state. 

Earlier, under the direction of the vice president, a number of security measures were taken to support efforts at tribal reconciliation. Disputing tribes then signed reconciliation agreements and efforts were also made to support the voluntary return of IDPs to the area. Dagalo has also pursued an agenda in the region to better promote the authority of the state and rule of law.
