West Darfur Governor Khamis Abd Allah Abaker has stated that the reconciliations reached in the local community under the auspices of Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo were genuine, adding that a great deal of effort will be invested to ensure that the previously disputing parties follow through with their commitments in this regard.
He made the statement during a visit to an IDP camp in Ginena East accompanied by the chairman of the RSF Reconciliation and Peace Committee and local community figures. The visit was aimed at monitoring the implementation of peace deals and preparing for the upcoming agricultural season.
Khamis also praised the efforts of the RSF and the vice president to resolve conflicts in Ginena.
In turn, RSF Reconciliation and Peace Committee Chairman, Colonel Musa Hamid Ambello stressed that the RSF will continue monitoring the implementation of peace deals between the local population and support peace committees, native administrations, youths, and female-led initiatives to promote peace.
He also thanked the Joint Forces for their work to improve the security situation in Sudan.
