State Security Committee praises visit of Transitional Sovereignty Council VP

Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has chaired a joint evaluation meeting during his visit to West Darfur as part of a presidential delegation.

The vice president was accompanied by his fellow council members, Dr. Al-Hadi Idris and Al-Tahir Hagar, Deputy Chief of Operational Staff Khalid Abdin Shami, Police General Ahmed Ibrahim, Intelligence General Abu-Obeida Mergani, SLM Representative Ahmed Gardia, and Justice and Equality Movement representative Mohammed Hussein Shareef.

In a press statement, West Darfur Governor Khamis Abd Allah Abaker said that he thanked Dagalo, his delegation, and the State Security Committee for their efforts to unite the disputing parties and encourage them to sign a peace deal.

Abaker added that the meeting addressed the security, humanitarian, and social situation.

He underscored that the vice president’s visit has contributed positively to the security situation and helped promote rule of law, peace deals, and the voluntary return of IDPs to their home villages.

As a result of the meeting, a specialized committee was also established to promote the upcoming agricultural season, including IDPs, West Darfur residents, farmers, and nomads.

Abaker also called on the population to live united and integrated.

Meanwhile, State Legal Department Chairman Abu-Baker Othman, the rapporteur of the State Security Committee, stressed that the joint meeting addressed best practices for stabilizing the security situation in the state.

It also addressed procedures that have been implemented to secure the upcoming agricultural season and implement tribal reconciliation agreements.
