Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has called on Sudan Liberation Movement Chairperson Abdul-Wahid Mohammed Nour to consider the political and social situation rationally and to work toward finding a resolution for IDPs in Sudan.
The vice president also urged Nour to add what he deems appropriate to the Juba Agreement, which has helped to put an end to problematic issues in Darfur.
Dagalo made the speech in Central Darfur, while speaking to the community in Zalingi.
“Darfur lacks peaceful coexistence and an acceptance of one another,” he said. He also highlighted the significant role of the native administration in resolving challenges, while praising the regular forces for their role in helping to maintain peace deals and promote rule of law.
Dagalo noted that Nour needs to be convinced to put an end to conflict.
He also appealed to all Sudanese stakeholders to assist in the voluntary return of IDPs to their homes, while adding that “development can only be accomplished through stability.”
Dagalo added that the government will safeguard returnees during their travels and said the government will continue to fight criminals, human trafficking, and the drugs trade.
Peace is vital for all of Sudan, the vice president said, noting that Central Darfur is also a tourist area, which requires stability to attract investors.
“Jabel Moon is for tourism, not rebellion,” Dagalo said.
