Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has called upon the students of Ginena University to refrain from hate speech, to make use of their knowledge and educate their fellow citizens, and to help spread discipline and positive values in the community.
While addressing the university commencement ceremony, the vice president stressed the need to cooperate closely to spread awareness about the need for peace and stability.
The ceremony was attended by his fellow council members Al-Hadi Idris and Al-Tahir Hagar, the state’s governor, Khamis Abd Allah Abaker, Sultan Saad Abdul-Rahman, a representative of the secretary general of the National Fund for Student Assistance, Professor Essam Karar, and State Secretary General Ahmed Hamad Mahmoud.
Dagalo underscored the importance of promoting freedom and democracy, sitting together to resolve challenges, and avoiding violence and burning tires and other objects on the streets. He stressed that democracy is for the people. All Sudanese have the right to demand their rights as long as they do not bring harm to their fellow citizens, he said.
“We have managed to resolve tribal conflicts,” Dagalo said. “Native administrations are responsible for monitoring the people and ensuring that they live in harmony.
He added that people spreading sedition will be brought to justice according to the law, and asked the students to renounce those who stand in the way of peace in Sudan.
The vice president further noted that female students need to actively stand up for their rights according to the Juba Agreement. No one should be discriminated against in Sudan on the basis of gender, religion, or race, he said.
