Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has chaired a meeting to promote oil cooperation with South Sudan in the Presidential Palace on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the finance and economic planning minster, the acting defense, justice, oil and energy, and investment ministers, the Central Bank governor, the director general of the intelligence services, and a representative of the acting interior minister.
The meeting addressed ways to strengthen cooperation between Sudan and South Sudan.
In a press statement, Acting Oil and Energy Minster Mohammed Abd Allah Mahmoud said the meeting was aimed at monitoring the progress of signing a new oil cooperation agreement with South Sudan.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed financial and technical reports pertaining to the previous agreement, as well as the progress in negotiations between the sides.
Mahmoud said the participants praised the high level of cooperation under the previous oil agreement that ran from 2012 to March 31, 2022. He also pointed out the challenges that arose during its implementation, and how they were successfully tackled through the joint work of both parties.
