West Darfur Governor Khalid Mohammed Ahmed Geli stated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) plays an instrumental role in maintaining peace and stability in Darfur, as well as in the provision of social services.
The statement was made while the governor received an RSF delegation led by RSF Inspection Department Chairman Abd Allah Mohammed Basha, a representative of Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
Geili praised the RSF’s role in protecting petroleum fields and the local population’s property, in addition to fighting violent crime and resolving tribal conflicts.
So far, he said, the RSF has contributed 2,000 water tanks to help reduce health problems near petroleum fields.
Meanwhile, Basha conveyed Dagalo’s greetings to the people of West Darfur.
He stressed that the RSF will continue to support and provide basic medical services, as well as work with the regular forces to impose the authority of the state and rule of law.
