RSF condemns the killing of a POW by elements of the MB Army and Armed Movements' mercenaries in North Darfur

MEDIA STATEMENT 

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) condemn in the strongest terms the heinous crime committed by elements of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group and mercenary Armed Movements, namely, the execution of an unarmed prisoner of war (POW) near "Al-Tina" in North Darfur state. Such a barbaric and criminal act effectively disregards the humanity of the POW and the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan, moreover, it embodies utter disregard for religious values, human customs, and International Humanitarian Law.

A widely circulated video documented shocking scenes of elements of the Muslim Brotherhood Army and mercenaries targeting the handcuffed and shackled POW before -coldly- firing a barrage of live ammunition at his defenseless body, in a barbaric act that served to reveal the criminal nature of these groups and lend further proof to the fact that they have long adopted a policy of extrajudicial killings.

Our forces condemn this heinous crime and call upon human rights and humanitarian organizations, as well as relevant international mechanisms, to expedite an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the execution of the POW, and to condemn as well as hold the perpetrators accountable in accordance with International Humanitarian Law. Furthermore, our forces affirm that such crimes will not be forgotten, that the perpetrators will not escape accountability, and that they will be pursued until just retribution is exacted upon them, in a manner that effectively ensures that impunity is out of the question and that justice is served for the victims of these violations.
