The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) strongly condemn the horrific violations committed by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) that operates under the terrorist Islamic Movement on Saturday morning, when it carried out a drone attack on the area of Kumo in South Kordofan/Nuba Mountains, resulting in the martyrdom of (45) innocent civilians, the majority of whom were school students, and the serious injury of more than (8) others, including women and children.
This heinous attack reflects a repeated pattern of targeting unarmed civilians, particularly students and children, in flagrant violation of the most basic rules of international humanitarian law and human rights conventions. It constitutes a full-fledged war crime that requires accountability and prosecution before national and international justice.
The Rapid Support Forces affirm that targeting educational institutions and civilian gatherings is a direct assault on the human right to life, safety, and education, and places the perpetrators of these crimes and those behind them under legal and moral responsibility.
The RSF also calls upon the regional and international communities, as well as human rights organizations, to assume their responsibilities in protecting civilians, documenting these crimes, and working to bring these criminals to justice without impunity.
We renew our firm commitment to defending the rights of the oppressed, supporting the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace, freedom, justice, and equality, and working toward building a homeland that safeguards the dignity of its citizens and secures the future of its generations.
