In the face of their repeated battlefield defeats, the terrorist militias affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its patrons from the extremist Islamic Movement are now employing new egregious tactics, arming so-called "popular resistance" groups and specialized battalions across multiple villages in Gezira State. By thrusting civilians into combat, these forces have resorted to exploiting political narratives at the cost of innocent lives, retreating only to then cynically condemn the consequences of their own actions.

Responsibility for the ongoing clashes in Gezira falls squarely on Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of the SAF, who openly declared arming civilians a means of bolstering the strategically flailing SAF. His directives reflect a calculated strategy developed by the SAF Military Intelligence, using agents like the traitorous rebel Abu Aqla Kaikal to arm thousands in eastern, central, and western Gezira. These actions follow a pattern in which RSF personnel were systematically disarmed under the pretense of combating so-called "negative phenomena" in the region.

The consequences of these maneuvers have been severe: thousands of RSF soldiers have been wrongfully detained, with dozens reportedly executed at Rufa’a Hospital under covert orders from Kaikal, carried out by his private operatives. Intelligence offices have been shuttered and replaced with personnel loyal to him, consolidating Kaikal’s influence across critical areas.

Following his rebellion, Kaikal’s forces mounted Dushka cannons on vehicles and took defensive positions, preparing for an anticipated "zero hour." His supporters rallied in eastern Gezira, organizing military parades under the guidance of intelligence operatives and arming Islamist elements and members of the so-called "Gezira Conference." Consequently, recent confrontations in the region have escalated violently, with attacks on our troops utilizing Dushka cannons, machine guns, and Kalashnikovs, prompting a strong response from our forces.

Gezira, which had enjoyed a period of relative stability, has been destabilized by al-Burhan’s intelligence apparatus in collaboration with Islamist factions and extremist groups linked to the former regime. Their reckless distribution of weapons to these so-called "popular resistance" groups — effectively the Popular Defense Battalions and affiliated militias — has turned the region into a combat zone.

In light of these developments, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) affirms its commitment to uphold the security of Gezira and will respond decisively to any criminal actors bearing arms. We urge citizens to avoid areas of active military confrontation and disregard al-Burhan’s calls for civilian militarization. We reiterate that our struggle is not with any tribal group. Our focus remains solely on dismantling the criminal elements within the Islamic Movement and its militias.

This current surge of violence represents a desperate final maneuver by ruthless warmongers attempting to incite civil war. Our forces remain resolute and prepared to confront these threats, accelerating the end of the former regime’s oppressive reign and securing freedom for the Sudanese people.
