Following the recent brutal mutilation of a civilian by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which deeply shocked the Sudanese community and led to widespread condemnation, regional and international organizations have joined in denouncing the SAF and its terrorist militias linked to the former regime.

Despite overwhelming material evidence, including widely circulated video footage depicting two armed SAF personnel and their cohorts viciously mutilating an innocent civilian, these groups have attempted to distance themselves from this atrocity. Shockingly, in this grotesque and inhumane footage, they are seen openly celebrating this vile act and biting into the liver of the deceased, while onlookers, caught in a disturbing frenzy, carry them on their shoulders — a scene more fitting for a horror film than reality.

This tragic incident unfolded in a known location and was perpetrated by soldiers belonging to the SAF and its allied jihadist militias. Their continuing efforts to deny responsibility for this crime are bound to fail given the existence of undeniable evidence and abundant eyewitness accounts. Their involvement in this atrocious crime is all the more painfully clear from the inadequate and inept statement issued recently by the SAF spokesperson. This heinous crime is a continuation of a long series of barbaric acts committed by the SAF and its terrorist brigades, as they seek to replicate the horrors of ISIS in Sudan. This is not a lone incident. These crimes are a violation of human decency.

This inhumane footage exposes the true depths of depravity in the souls of these cowardly terrorists. Sadly, this is not the first crime committed by this band of jihadists, nor will it be the last. These crimes are perpetrated by a barbaric militia whose commanders have lost their way after facing repeated defeats on the battlefield at the hands of our courageous Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers. Unlike their counterparts, our brave warriors fight with honor and morality and adhere to the principles of honorable warfare.

We recognize the profound psychological harm that has been inflicted on the Sudanese people in this war, who have been forced to repeatedly endure the agony of witnessing the SAF and its extremist allies from the former regime as they target civilians based on tribal and regional grounds under the guise of supporting the RSF. Haunting recent videos depicting beheadings and the burning alive of innocent civilians in North Kordofan and beyond remain vivid in our memory.

We have observed clearly a state of hysteria gripping the SAF and its allied militias from the former regime as they undergo their final throes, driving them to commit reckless acts that place them on the roster of war criminals.

The RSF strongly condemns all identity-based crimes, especially rape, murder, and corpse mutilation, recognizing them as severe violations of international law and basic human values. These actions dangerously deviate from the norms of ethical warfare and demonstrate a lack of respect for the dignity of living beings, as well as the deceased. We call for an urgent and comprehensive investigation into these crimes, including the prosecution of both the perpetrators and their commanding officers complicit in issuing or facilitating such reprehensible orders.

To our esteemed citizens, we affirm once more that our valiant RSF soldiers remain steadfast in their mission to bring an end to the era of cowardly and unethical practices marked by the former regime. Together, we will build a renewed Sudan, where justice, peace, and democracy reign supreme.
