MEDIA STATEMENT

Regarding the circumstances of the unintended clashes with the Chadian forces

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) express their deep regret over the unfortunate incidents that occurred as a result of unintended clashes with the sisterly Chadian forces, and extend their sincere condolences and heartfelt prayers for mercy upon the souls of the martyrs, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded and injured.

Our forces affirm their full respect for the sovereignty of the sisterly Republic of Chad and its internationally recognized borders, and express their deep appreciation for its people and leadership, commending the significant efforts exerted by the Chadian government in hosting Sudanese refugees and its ongoing endeavors to support peace and stability in Sudan and the region.

The RSF also commends the prominent regional role played by His Excellency President Mohamed Idris Deby, and his highly valued efforts in promoting peace, which were crowned by his receipt of the African Peace Prize in recognition of his contributions to consolidating security and stability.

Our forces stress that what occurred was in no way intentional, but rather resulted from an unintentional error during field operations aimed at pursuing militias of the Muslim Brotherhood army and mercenary movements that had infiltrated from within the territory of the sisterly Republic of Chad.

These groups sought to incite discord and then fled back into Chadian territory as part of a deliberate plan to provoke a clash between our forces and the Chadian forces. During the pursuit of the Muslim Brotherhood army and mercenary movements, some of our units penetrated the border without prior knowledge, due to the similarity of the terrain and border areas between the two countries. This is further underscored by repeated public statements issued by prominent leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood army, in which they declared their intention to undermine security and stability in the Republic of Chad.

In this context, our forces point out that this incident comes within the framework of deliberate attempts by leaders of certain armed movements loyal to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood army, led by Minni Arko Minawi and Jibril Ibrahim, that aims at provoking a crisis with the sisterly State of Chad and dragging the entire region into a cycle of armed conflict that serves neither the security nor the stability of its peoples.

Our forces would like to clarify that the delay in issuing this statement was due to their keenness to carefully verify the circumstances of the incident and ascertain the facts with full transparency and responsibility.

They affirm their responsibility and commitment to continuing the ongoing investigations, taking all necessary measures to hold any negligence accountable, and ensuring that anyone proven to be involved or in violation faces the appropriate punishment in accordance with applicable regulations.

The RSF renews its firm commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and joint cooperation with the brothers in the Republic of Chad, in a manner that serves security, stability, and peace in the region.
