First Vice President of the Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has received a phone call from the US Assistant Secretary Bureau of FRICAN Affairs, Phee Molly. The conversation affirmed that necessity of accomplishing the democratic transition arrangements in Sudan towards an election by the end of the transitional period.
Daglo briefed the US official on the recent political developments in Sudan, hailing the supportive role of the US Administration towards Sudan, affirming the continuation of those efforts, pointing out that the only way-out to overcome the current crisis is to launch comprehensive dialogue.
For her part, Mrs. Molly affirmed the continuation of the US Administration to coordinate and cooperate with the Sudanese government to make the transitional period a success.
She confirmed the US Administration support to a Sudanese/Sudanese dialogue to overcome the current crisis, pointing out to the possibility of taking advantage of the existence of the UNITAMS to bridge the gap amid the Sudanese parties.
The telephone conversation came within the framework of consultation and coordination concerning the Democratic transition process in Sudan.
