Sudan Requires National Consensus to Overcome Its Political Stalemate and Insecurity, Says FVP

First Vice President (FVP) of the Transitional Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo said that the country is facing great economic, political and social challenges a matter that requires national consensus to overcome the political stalemate and insecurity.

He announced, while addressing a mass rally in Al-Genaina on the occasion of inaugurating its governor General Khamis Abdallah in the presence of Sovereign Council members Malik Agar and Al-Hadi Idris, his welcoming to the PM Hamdok initiative, calling for including all the national initiatives that aims at accomplishing the goals of the transitional period and come out of the current crisis.

He disclosed that the inauguration of West Darfur governor affirms that the implementation of the peace agreement is progressing a matter that confirms the seriousness of the government and the signatories.

Daglo added that making the five states of Darfur one united region will bring Darfur back to its glorious days, affirming that appointing Mini Arco Minnawi as governor of greater Darfur to lead the process of peace, security, coexistence and development is an added value to the region.

He affirmed that security represents an essential axis for the transitional period government, hinting to the formation of the forces of civilian protection after the UNAMID exit.

Daglo called for eliminating the racism and tribalism, urging the new appointed governor to expand the participation amid the components of the state, besides boosting the role of the local administrations and civil society organizations.

He pointed to the pivotal role of neighbouring Chad in achieving the peace, affirming appreciation to the South Sudan mediation and other peace partners for their role in achieving peace.

He also thanked the UNAMID, all regional and international organizations for their great role during Darfur crisis, adding that they are aspiring for constructive cooperation with the UNITAMS in peace-building and reconstruction.

He welcomed the delegation of the UAE led by the GM of Khalifia Bin Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Work.  Mohammed Haji Al-Khuri and th accompanying delegation  who came to Al-Genaina to support the citizens of Darfur, hailng the great role of the UAE in supporting Sudan, announcing the construction of 12 new roads to link Darfur states with the national highway funded by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed.
