Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Yassir Al-Atta who was tasked with the formation of joint forces to restore and maintain security in the capital city (Khartoum) and other states chaired today the meeting of the technical committee of the Defence and Security Council in the presence of representatives of the regular forces and the parties to the peace process from the armed struggle movements.
Rapid Support Forces representative in the meeting, Maj. Hen. Al-Khair Abdallah Idris said in press statements that the meeting was briefed by the Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Yasir Al-Atta on the importance of the decision issued by the 1st Vice President of the Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo who is the Chairman of the National Implementation Follow-up Committee for Juba Peace Agreement according to which a joint force is formed to prevent any insurgency or crimes in greater Khartoum and other states.
He added that the meeting also was briefed by the Director of Police authorities, Lt. Gen. Khalid Mahdi on the types and scale of crimes, pointing out that the Interior Ministry was tasked to prepare an integrated report on the means of forming the joint force and its supportive role to the regular forces considering that prevention of crimes and maintaining security is the core mission of the police forces.
He affirmed that the meeting emphasized the importance of coordination among the participating forces in greater Khartoum and other states to maintain security and bring about control besides promoting the social security and peace.
