First Vice President (FVP) of the Transitional Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has chaired this evening at the Republican Palace the Security and Defense Council emergency meeting in the presence of all its members.
Defense Minister, Lt. Gen. Yassin Ibrahim Yassin said in press statements that the meeting discussed the extension UNITAMS mandate, and the security situations in Sudan in general especially in South Darfur and Blue Nile States.
He pointed out that the meeting agreed on the extension of UNITAMS mandate for another year according to UNSC Resolution 2524 (2020) as of 3rd June 2021.
Yassin said that the meeting mourned the martyrs of police forces in the incidents of 13th May 2021 in Al-Radoum Locality in South Darfur State.
The Defense Minister added that the meeting confirmed support to police forces to enable it conduct its job in a professional manner, besides deploying joint forces to arrest the insurgents and bring the criminals to book.
He added that the Council discussed the incidents of Gisan Locality (village 11) and directed providing support to the joint forces to eliminate the tribal conflict in the area.
