First Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Commander in Chief of the Commander in Chief of the Rapid Support Forces discussed with the European Union (EU) envoy and Finland Foreign Minister, Mr. Pekka Haavisto , the tensions on the Sudanese/Ethiopian borders.
Daglo also received in his office at the Republican Palace the EU envoy where the conditions of the Ethiopian refugees in Sudan who fled the war in Tigray region.
The FVP briefed the EU envoy on the process of implementing the peace agreement signed between the government and the armed struggle movements in Juba and the arrangements to protect the civilians in Darfur after the UNAMID exit from the region.
The FVP affirmed the readiness and ability of the government to protect the civilians in Darfur and the repatriation of the IDPs and refugees to their home villages.
The meeting discussed the regional and international issues.
Daglo stressed the important role of the EU in supporting the transitional government, pointing out to the necessity if coordination and cooperation between the transitional government and the EU, lauding the latter’s support to the transitional government.
