The Economic Emergency High Committee affirmed in its today’s meeting at Friendship Hall chaired by 1st Vice President of the Council, 1st. Lt. Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Himidti in the presence of the Committee’s Deputy President, Dr. Abdallah Hamdok, emphasized the importance of restructuring the Agricultural Bank to enable it implement its central and essential role I pushing forward and increasing the rates of productive sector.
For his part, Ambassador Omer Manis said that the Committee discussed the report forwarded by the Banking sub-committee on the possible means to reform the banking sector to become more effective, adding that the report recommended the restructuring of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) to enable it play its role in monitoring and supervising the banking system.
Manis disclosed that the Committee issued several recommendations o the banking system in which it stressed on banning the CBOS officials from being members in the board of directors in commercial banks to avoid conflict on the interests.
He added that the Committee issued several decisions in which it assured the importance of taking decisive steps and setting a plan to rehabilitate and activate the role of Sudan railways including the administrative aspects of the cooperation and the main lines linking the production aeas to the exporting harbor.
