Daglo Affirms Government’s Readiness to Cooperate with the ICC

First Vice President of the Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo has affirmed the readiness of the transitional period government to cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC), pointing out to the independency of the Sudanese judiciary, confirming that the government doesn’t interfere in judiciary work.
Daglo’s statements came after receiving in his office at the Republican Palace, the ICC Prosecutor General,  Mrs. Fatou Bensouda.
For her part, ICC Prosecutor General said in press statements that the main purpose of the visit is to coordinate and cooperate with the Sudanese authorities besides discussing the case filed before the ICC, and also cooperation on the other arrest warrants issued by the court on Darfur region.
“We met with the concerned parties to acquire its commitment to push the cases forward” Bensouda said, affirming the necessity of achieving justice especially for the victims of Darfur region.
