MEDIA STATEMENT

We express our sincerest appreciation to Saudi Arabia and the United States for their joint mediation platform. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed counterparts in Saudi Arabia, including its leadership and its compassionate citizens, for their generous hospitality in hosting the mediation process.

Furthermore, we acknowledge the invaluable contribution made through the establishment of a humanitarian aid bridge via the King Salman Center, which has played a significant role in alleviating the challenging conditions faced by our people.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) remain steadfast in our commitment to the principles outlined in the Jeddah Declaration, signed on May 11. We reaffirm our unwavering dedication to upholding human rights and international humanitarian law. Our complete solidarity with our people, particularly those who have been directly affected by the consequences of the war, remains resolute.

We hereby announce our wholehearted approval of the Saudi-U.S. mediation initiative, which seeks to implement a 24-hour humanitarian truce. This truce will commence at 6:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

Today, we emphasize our unwavering dedication to the ceasefire, as its primary objective is to facilitate the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to the people of Sudan.

We sincerely hope that the Sudanese Armed Forces and those associated with the former regime of dictator Omar al-Bashir will honor the ceasefire and refrain from impeding the noble humanitarian efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the people.
