Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has taken part today in the signing ceremony of the final reconciliation agreement between the Arab tribes and Al-Gamar Tribe.

The ceremony was attended by the state governor, Khamis Abaker, Deputy Chief of Operational Staff Khalid Abdin Shami, Police General Ahmed Ibrahim, Intelligence General Abu-Obeida Mergani, representatives of the Sudan People Liberation Movement and Justice and Equality Movement, Dar Masaleet Tribe General Chief Sultan Saad Abdul-Rahman, and Gamar Tribe Sultan Hashim Othman.

While speaking at the signing ceremony, Dagalo said this is the fifth peace deal – real deals that are not just on paper – that puts an end to tribal disputes and promotes peace and unity.

The vice president stated that, unfortunately, not all people in Sudan support efforts at tribal reconciliation, while native administrations do not always stand united, some political stakeholders have a hidden agenda, and certain armed movements are focused primarily on pursuing their own interests.

Dagalo also stressed that sedition must be dealt with in the right way according to law, while dialogue needs to be promoted among native administration to ensure peace.

He added that rule of law is of the utmost importance for Sudan, including to create an advantageous climate for micro-finance and banking institutions, and investors.
