Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has called upon Krink Locality residents to renounce tribalism and racism, to turn over any fugitives who are hiding in plain sight, and to work together to promote rule of law.
While addressing the peace-signing ceremony, Dagalo condemned persons who have a hidden agenda and have recently promoted sedition and violence in the area.
He added that the conflicting parties realized no benefit from their squabbles, but instead only sorrow and death. “Rather, sit together in peace, think rationally, and organize increased cooperation between farmers and shepherds before the upcoming autumn season starts this year,” he said.
The vice president also stressed the importance of looking after women and granting them their rights. They should hold 40 percent of all political and social committee seats, he said.
Dagalo also pledged to construct the Krink Mosque at his own expense, to donate two ambulances to the locality – one for Krink and one for nomads – and to provide 10 million Sudanese pounds to women who have been affected by recent negative events in the area.
Dagalo also praised the UAE’s recent donation to Sudan and promised to support the fund for affected persons in West Darfur.
UN officials visited West Darfur recently for the same reason as the vice president, which is to assist in the voluntary return of IDPs, he said.
During his trip, the vice president was accompanied by fellow council members Al-Hadi Idris and Al-Tahir Hagar, West Darfur Governor Khamis Abd Allah Abaker, SLM Representative Ahmed Gardia, and General Chief for Dar Masaleet Sultan Saad Abd El-Rahman Bahar-Din.
The visit achieved its goal of relieving tensions within the community.
