Transitional Sovereignty Council VP announces security measures to defend cities, promote rule of law

Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has discussed the challenges facing the peace process in West Darfur State.
During a meeting with the respective stakeholders, the vice president was briefed on the efforts that they are taking with the state government, State Security Committee and native administration to put an end to tribal conflicts.
The meeting was attended by his fellow council members Al-Tahir Hagar and El-Hadi Idris, as well as representatives of the State Security Committee.
The meeting participants concluded that a joint committee should be created from among the attending stakeholders and regular forces to promote reconciliation and peaceful coexistence and help return IDPs to their home villages.
The vice president said the security measures need to be taken to protect cities and impose the authority of the state and rule of law. This is integral for peace and stability, he said.
Meanwhile, Al-Tahir Hagar said all the stakeholders need to work together to bring an end to tribal conflict and spread peace in the region. In turn, Al-Hadi Idris stressed that all the parties are committed to implementing the Juba Agreement.
State Peace Coordinator, Dr. Zakaria Abd El Rahman stressed that a number of peace and reconciliation initiatives will be launched with the support of the vice president to ensure that problematic issues are dealt with effectively.
