Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has met today with several official delegations, including the General Directorate for Displaced Persons, sheikhs, camp coordinators, and youth and women leaders.
The vice president was briefed on the needs of internally displaced persons – particularly, security arrangements that will allow for their safe and comfortable return home.
He underscored the importance of assisting IDPs who wish to return to their villages, adding that the government will deploy the joint forces to safeguard them on their journey.
He urged IDPs to return home, stressing that the government will ensure their safe return, a comfortable and secure environment at home, and basic services.
Dagalo underscored that the authority of the state and rule of law must be imposed to maintain peace and security.
Fellow council member Al-Hadi Idris added that the vice president’s visit differs from those conducted prior, as it has resounding security, political, and humanitarian implications.
He added that the government will work to finalize tribal reconciliation agreements between the Dar Masaleet and other tribes.
Meanwhile, General Chief of Dar Massaleet, Sultan Saad Abd El-Rahman Bahar Din said the native administrations will make significant efforts to resolve tribal disputes in the area.
In turn, representatives of the IDP community expressed their appreciation to the vice president, and voiced their desire to return to their home villages.
