The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Desert Shield Division has managed to rescue nine people from the desert on the Sudan-Libya border after they ran out of foodstuffs and water.

The group had been without food or drink for five days.

Earlier, the RSF received reports from an individual who said his group’s car had broken down along a desert road. Nine people and 100 sheep were on board, Commander of the RSF Shafar-Let Military Base, Colonel Osman Ali Abd El-Magid said.

The RSF immediately deployed to the area to locate and evacuate the group to their base and offer medical support, shelter and other humanitarian assistance.

Al-Magid stressed that it is the RSF’s duty to safeguard the people inside and outside Sudan. He stressed that it is prepared to protect the nation’s borders and fight trans-border crime, illegal migration and human trafficking.
