Transitional Sovereignty Council Vice President, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, paid a sudden visit to the Sudanese Electricity Distribution Company’s (SEDC) control center.
He was briefed on the reasons for the recent electricity power cuts in Sudan, the impact of rising temperatures on electricity generation and the solutions required to stabilize electricity.
Oil and Energy Minister Mohammed Abd Allah Mahmoud thanked the vice president for visiting together with the finance and transport ministers and the director general of customs.
The visit was aimed at inspecting electricity supplies and studying challenges facing the industry nationwide.
Dagalo noted that the High Committee for Economic Emergencies, which he chairs, has already been assured that electricity supplies will improve after the recent power cuts and the people of Sudan will be kept abreast of all developments as the electricity system is enhanced.
He added that the committee has donated funds to employees for working during Ramadan.
Meanwhile, SEDC Director General of National Control Tarig Khalifa Jaafar said electricity connections with Ethiopia, a Turkish barge and the Bahri Thermal Plant will reduce power cuts moving future.
