RSF Commander, Kenyan President Meet to Discuss Crisis in Sudan, Push for Peaceful Resolution

Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Commander, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo recently undertook a visit to Kenya. The visit is part of a wider diplomatic tour to several countries aimed at addressing the crisis in Sudan. Upon his arrival to Nairobi, General Dagalo was warmly welcomed at the State House by Kenyan President William Ruto.

The meeting between the two leaders focused on the situation in Sudan. They discussed the root causes of the conflict and explored potential solutions. General Dagalo provided President Ruto with an overview of the RSF's vision, which includes initiating a ceasefire and negotiations to secure a lasting and equitable peace in Sudan.

General Dagalo took the opportunity to express his appreciation for Kenya’s support, highlighting President Ruto's contributions and the efforts of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to halt the conflict and establish stability in Sudan.

In response, President Ruto reaffirmed Kenya's unwavering support for a substantive resolution to the ongoing war that ends the historical crisis in Sudan and ushers in sustainable peace. He emphasized the significance of the discussions held under the auspices of IGAD, which are expected to lead to a political settlement and, ultimately, a sustained peace in the region. He concluded his remarks with a note of optimism for a peaceful resolution in Sudan.

President Ruto also acknowledged the commitment of the RSF and General Dagalo to resolving the Sudanese conflict through diplomatic dialogue, highlighting Kenya's endorsement of these peace initiatives.
