RSF Commander Meets Djibouti President and IGAD Chair to Discuss Way Forward to End War In Sudan
His Excellency President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh, in his dual role as chairman of the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD), graciously hosted a formal meeting with Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Commander, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
The high-level discussion centered on the critical developments unfolding in Sudan, with a particular focus on the ongoing war and the need to establish peace and stability in the region.
During the meeting, President Guelleh extended a warm welcome to General Dagalo. In his capacity as both the president of Djibouti and the chairman of IGAD, President Guelleh underscored his dedication to facilitating meaningful dialogue and fostering a constructive path toward negotiation and reconciliation among the conflicting parties in Sudan.
General Dagalo, in turn, provided a comprehensive briefing to President Guelleh on the present state of affairs in Sudan. He highlighted the detrimental effects of the war on the civilian population, emphasizing the urgent humanitarian concerns.
General Dagalo articulated the vision of the RSF to bring about an end to the war and devise a holistic solution that addresses the historical crisis in Sudan and alleviates the suffering of the Sudanese people.
Concluding the session, General Dagalo reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the outcomes of the 41st Extraordinary Assembly of the IGAD Heads of State and Government. He declared his unconditional readiness to engage in sincere negotiations aimed at securing a just and all-encompassing peace settlement.
