The Rapid Support Forces (RSF)
delegation, led by Brigadier General Omar Hamdan, engaged with the mediation team during the Geneva negotiations to discuss viable solutions for resolving the crisis in Sudan.
Crucial issues addressed included the facilitation of humanitarian aid delivery, the enhancement of civilian protection, and strategies for achieving the cessation of hostilities.
The RSF delegation reaffirmed its strong commitment to constructive engagement with all proposals aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people. They underscored the critical importance of easing the entry of humanitarian aid through the Daba and Adre crossings to ensure it reaches those in need. The delegation also expressed deep appreciation for the mediation team's efforts to secure stability in Sudan.
However, the delegation criticized the opposing party for disregarding the mediation's invitation to participate in the negotiations, signaling a lack of commitment to ending the suffering of the Sudanese people. They suggested this refusal was a deliberate attempt to prolong and escalate the conflict, serving the interests of terrorist groups linked to the former regime that controls the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its leadership.
The delegation further warned that the opposing party is likely to continue targeting civilian infrastructure, citing today's attacks on Al-Da'ein Hospital and the market in eastern Darfur, as well as strikes in the North Darfur city of Tiwaisha and the city of Al-Hasahissa in Gezira State. These attacks resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians, including women and children, with many more injured.
The RSF will not tolerate these heinous acts against innocent civilians and calls on the mediation team and the international community to unequivocally condemn these criminal actions, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the Jeddah Declaration — a declaration the opposing party falsely claims to uphold.
