On Friday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) bravely thwarted a deceptive assault by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and its mercenary allies linked to the former regime in El Fasher, North Darfur. The attack, launched from three directions, targeted RSF positions, breached defenses, and led to significant civilian casualties in residential neighborhoods and IDP camps, compelling thousands to evacuate the area.
Since the onset of this war, our forces in El Fasher have consistently adhered to the ceasefire agreement with the armed movements, despite some factions aligning with the SAF. In response to calls from civil administrations, regional leaders, and both local and international organizations, the RSF Command has made the preservation of civilian lives the utmost priority. Demonstrating extreme restraint, our forces have successfully repelled a total of 22 attacks in recent days.
We remain committed to defending against any aggression by the SAF and its terror-driven mercenaries from the former regime. Despite refraining from advancing on the city center since last March, we continue to face daily attacks that compromise civilian safety and exploit IDPs as shields.
The RSF is dedicated to overcoming these terrorist forces, liberating our nation from extremism, establishing a just and equitable state, and forming a unified national army to protect our land and people.
